Leadership Middle Tennessee is now accepting applications from community leaders for its 2017 class. Applications are due by Friday, May 6, 2016.
Leadership Middle Tennessee (LMT), a regional leadership program, was founded to engage leaders from across 10 counties of Middle Tennessee to focus on regional issues. Participating counties are Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Maury, Montgomery, Robertson, Rutherford, Sumner, Williamson and Wilson. For nine months during the 2016-2017 year, class members will participate in 10 sessions lasting one-and-a-half days each.
To be eligible for acceptance into the program, an application must be submitted along with two letters of reference. To submit an application, click here.
Each year, 30 to 35 classmates participate in the program. Selection is based on candidates’ leadership achievements and potential to contribute to the economic development and quality of life for the Middle Tennessee region. The program’s goal is to select at least two participants from each county. Participants will be chosen from a variety of occupations and levels of community and regional involvement.
LMT was founded in 1999 as an initiative of Partnership 2000, with its first class graduating in 2001 and the number of alumni currently at 460. Its goal is to contribute to sustainable economic and community growth and development for the 10-county area through the participation of leaders in the sectors of business, community, non-profit, government and education.
Leadership Middle Tennessee is overseen by a regional board comprised of Leadership Middle Tennessee alums, which includes business and community leaders. Deborah Varallo, president of Varallo Public Relations, is chairman of the board; Patti James is executive director of the program.
