About
Our Mission: To Inspire Regional Leadership
Leadership Middle Tennessee is a regional leadership program founded to engage community and business leaders in the 10 county region of Middle Tennessee. The program starts with a series of 10 monthly day-and-a-half issues-focused sessions designed to give participants a greater understanding of the critical issues in the region, motivating them to use their skills to become regionally engaged.
Participating counties are Cheatham, Davidson, Dickson, Maury, Montgomery, Robertson, Rutherford, Sumner, Williamson and Wilson Counties. One class of approximately 40 members is selected each year.
Our History and Organizational Structure
The Leadership Middle Tennessee program was founded in 1999, as its founding leaders foresaw the need for the region’s ten counties to work collaboratively for Middle Tennessee to achieve its full potential.
Graduates from Leadership Middle Tennessee’s year-long, county-immersion program advance as stronger leaders, with a far greater regional understanding and ability to make a positive impact. Leadership Middle Tennessee alumni build life-long friendships and networks that enhance their effectiveness as professionals and civic leaders.
As a 501c3 organization, Leadership Middle Tennessee works to sustain and leverage its growing cadre of community leaders. With a full-time president, a 36-member board from across its ten representative counties, and a host of active committees, Leadership Middle Tennessee conducts a number of educational, social and civic activities throughout the year.
Leadership Middle Tennessee is designed to help class members:
- Understand issues, impacts and implications that affect the region, now and in the future
- Grasp the “Big Picture” of the Middle Tennessee region
- Develop an outstanding network of colleagues and collaborators
- Gain access to key decision makers and industry leaders
- Strengthen personal leadership skills that will advance community leadership activities
